Vacation Time…..

It seems everyone is writing posts about what they are packing on their trips away….well I am going to jump on board! I am heading off to Italy next week for 3 beautiful glorious weeks. I’ll be in my families village for my cousins wedding, which is south of Rome right near Naples, then heading back to Rome and onto Nice. My suitcase needs to be filled with easy, casual summer clothes that can take me from the beach, to the shops then off to dinner.

We have previously touched on capsules wardrobes, well I am going to need a capsule suitcase. Where else would I find all the right ideas and inspiration needed for this task, but Pinterest. I have been scrolling through and pinning like a crazy women, but have found all the inspro I required.

First thing I had to decide was a colour scheme, I have chosen a colour palette of – Black, white, Navy & Grey – and then throwing in shoes, bags & accessories to change up the outfit looks. Everything that I pack has to be able to be worn together (mix & match), and by keeping to a pretty neutral colour scheme Ill be able to achieve this. I am hoping to pack as little as possible, because we all know you have to have a little shop when on holidays! Cant wait to show you all what I am packing….

Loving Ankle Boots

We are so loving the ankle boot right now (actually since a few seasons ago). They are easy to wear, keep your feet warm and look great. They can and do have a bad rap for making feet look chunky,as they can cut off your legs right above the ankles, if not worn well…….but we have some tips to make sure that isn’t the case.

If your wearing ankle boots with skinny jeans, you should try rolling the jeans under or even half cuffing (a slight roll) them up, it  looks effortless but very on trend. Showing a touch of skin breaks the line of the boot,  flattering your silhouette. Also the cut of the boot should come just above the ankle, and be significantly wider than your legs to avoid them looking “stumpy”.

When you want to lengthen the look of your legs – match the colour of your pants to your boot colour. Nothing beats a bit of black on black. Dresses and ankle boots work too – using the same tip as above in the cooler months, try wearing some black opaque tights with your black booties. Take a look at some inspro below – all of these looks are easy to pull off, you just need to give them ago.

How are you going to wear yours?

Being a sports mum

Is hard work! Both my boys play sport and we have training on most week nights and then games on the weekend. I am constantly on the hunt for easy, casual, comfortable but stylish clothes and outfits to wear. I love plain t-shirts, jeans, sneakers or flats and a cardi – this usually works well and is easy enough to change the look of with a different scarf, cardigan or another accessory. I have been eyeing off some harem pants from Seed, but not sure if I am ready to give them a go. Come winter cold raining mornings…..ill be honest – i do just wear track pants, a jacket and sneakers….some mornings are just too hard. I would love to hear about what you guys wear for all the kids extra curriculum activities.

Yes we still need the Boyfriend

I love the boyfriend jean. I only have 2 pairs of jeans the super skinny and the boyfriend. The days I’m feeling flat, bloated and blah the boyfriend comes out to play. They are baggier, slouchy and comfy. But they do not have to be boring – they are to be worn well. Endless options on styling them up and making them look a little glam instead of bum. And we all know jeans are tran seasonal and are most properly the one item in your wardrobe that gets worn weekly, some of us daily – we best style them well.

The boyfriend can be worn on short girls and girls with hips!  If you’re shorter and curvier, the boyfriend jeans look best with a heel. It’s also important to find a pair that fits a little snug so they’re not too baggy, as jeans do tend to stretch these days. Also worth noting is the height of the cuff, it shouldn’t sit to high, I prefer just above the ankle, not up the calf. I also prefer jeans with not too many pre rips in them, otherwise they won’t last as long and they look terrible.

Wear them with a pointed flat and top for a weekend lunch with the girls, with a sandal and tank for a warm day out & with a killer heel for a night out. Wear them with boots and cardigan in winter, options are endless just head to Pinterest for more inspiration.  Because they are quite a masculine jean, you need to pretty / girly them up with good shoes (points or strappy), and accessories to add the feminie touch, its about keeping a balance.

Our Camping Must Haves

We just got back from our annual week of glamping at the perfect spot of Port Elliot on the Fleurieu Peninsula. The weather in this neck of the woods is always hit & miss, this year definitely a miss. The day we left it was 40 degrees, but by nightfall that had all changed, hence the list of our clothing “must haves” was created, to make sure all basis were and are covered for future glamping trips.

We have the summer tee dress – this can be worn around on a warm day and is just an easy piece. Rolled up takes up no room at all which is a bonus.

Kaftan – to wear down on the beach over the bathers, especially if your not one confident enough to flaunt it. I live in one of these over the summer on the beach with the kids. I feel comfortable as it is still covering me up but still letting me feel like I’m beach worthy.

Jeans – these should be the first item thrown in the bag. Wear with a tee and thongs or a jumper and sneakers if its colder. What really needs to be said, they speak for themselves.

Shorts – another item which you can’t not take, can’t live without them.

Chambray Shirt – wear it over the dress or with the shorts when it starts to get cooler, wear it under the cardigan that you will also be packing for when the cold spell hits. This is a layering item and will become required at some stage of your trip, so just pack it!

Off course your bag also consists of the cardigan, track pants, bathers, t-shirts, sneakers, thongs and your pyjamas. Making sure all items are within the same colour palette helps mixing & matching. I like to take either black, white & grey palette or a Navy, white & grey palette, then throwing on a bright scarf or necklace for a pop of colour.  Is there anything else you think we may have missed or that you like to take?

What I’ll be packing….

I was going to write about your Spring Essentials – then I looked outside and there wasn’t much to see besides some grey cloud and that wasn’t very inspiring. So then I thought about what I was wanting to pack for our girls weekend away.  What I need to pack for my weekend away (with the ladies to Melbourne) is differnent to what your going to pack for where ever you may be going – but that’s ok, at least its a start.

So Im heading to Melbourne with the other half of Daily Style – Ms Daily Style herself, Ms The Beautiful Soup and our lovely friend Ms Crazy Mumma. We are heading over for a weekend of shopping, wining and dining and to definitely to sleep in! What am I going to pack……well first I have to start thinking abut what we are planning to do and when, this will guide me as to what type of outfit is required.

Day One – Lunch and Shopping, then Dining = 2 outfits

Day Two – Shopping, Dining and Wining = 2 outfits

Day Three – Relaxing and coming home  = 1 outfit

This equals 5 outfits, 3 casual and 2 to dress up. All this has to fit into a weekend / over night bag. I can’t take 5 outfits, I have to plan to rotate/reuse what I do take and makes sure it all works together and I want a fairly minimal chic look, also remembering Melbourne has 4 seasons in one day, is something to take into consideration.  I headed to pintrest to help guide me and find some inspiration. It always works….

I am pretty sure this has it all covered, on the last day I can wear the pants from the first day with a different top. The idea is to take items that are useable more than once and all from a similar colour palette (mine is usally white/black/grey). The black jeans can be worn both nights, the cuffed jeans can be worn twice and I can chose what shirts / tops to wear. I would also throw in a striped tee and chambray shirt and perhaps a pair of shorts to the mix for another option, especially if it does decide to warm up.  Also remembering I will be there shopping, so will have more than enough.

Lets not to forget to take all my toiletries, hair dryer, make up and a pair of havianas! Did I miss anything? What would you pack on a girls weekend away?

The White Blazer

There’s no easier way to transition your wardrobe for spring and summer than with the white blazer. It is currently at the top of my “must have” list.  I am feeling like white is the new black this season.

You need this piece in your wardrobes now! It is perfect for those cool mornings and evenings.   It can also easily take you from work to a night out and casually for the weekend…..and that’s just the beginning. The white blazer – this just might be one of the easiest looks to wear for the season. It’s super chic, fresh and unexpected. The great thing about this wardrobe staple is that it can be easily worn by all without any fuss.

Wear your new white blazer with a grey or graphic print tee, teamed with jeans. All black then add the statement white blazer. Chambray, double denim and the white blazer. Jeans and heels with the white blazer.  It is not a boring piece, it will become your “go to” over the next few months, you just have to get use to it and be creative. These should get you going.

Have Fun Now! xx
