It seems like just last week when I first stared / attempted to start a fashion blog. I haven’t blogged for so long but in that time I have started my own online fashion boutique. You never know where a path will lead you!
I stock some real cute Australian brands that are just perfect for the busy mum just like me. My buying philosophy is if I wouldn’t wear it – I wont buy it. I need just the one wardrobe for all aspects of my life – working mum, sports mum, small business owner mum, date night mum and I’m exhausted mum. You can look stylish whilst being all of these, I’ll make sure of that.
Come on over and take a look – you maybe surprised.
Take a peek at Daily Style Boutique here.
Not sure if you all saw my new purchase last week from the Iconic, I bought a pair of Adidas Stan Smiths (miss smiths too be exact). I absolutely love looking at the way these shoes are being worn around the world, everyone is wearing them especially a lot of girls in Europe. Over the past two years, this shoe has gone from sitting on the shelf collecting dust (Adidas even stopped making them for a little while) to the feet of many and being constantly sold out.
These shoes are as big, if not bigger than the Vans and Converse Chuck Taylors we have all become customised to. They are perfect for our #mumsstyle we have going on, as they look great with jeans and ponte pants, chunky knits & chambray shirts. Because they are white, they will go with most items and colour palettes too.
Check out the inspiration below, then go get yourself a pair. We love them!
Loving them as much as we do, buy yourself a pair here!

We just got back from our annual week of glamping at the perfect spot of Port Elliot on the Fleurieu Peninsula. The weather in this neck of the woods is always hit & miss, this year definitely a miss. The day we left it was 40 degrees, but by nightfall that had all changed, hence the list of our clothing “must haves” was created, to make sure all basis were and are covered for future glamping trips.
We have the summer tee dress – this can be worn around on a warm day and is just an easy piece. Rolled up takes up no room at all which is a bonus.
Kaftan – to wear down on the beach over the bathers, especially if your not one confident enough to flaunt it. I live in one of these over the summer on the beach with the kids. I feel comfortable as it is still covering me up but still letting me feel like I’m beach worthy.
Jeans – these should be the first item thrown in the bag. Wear with a tee and thongs or a jumper and sneakers if its colder. What really needs to be said, they speak for themselves.
Shorts – another item which you can’t not take, can’t live without them.
Chambray Shirt – wear it over the dress or with the shorts when it starts to get cooler, wear it under the cardigan that you will also be packing for when the cold spell hits. This is a layering item and will become required at some stage of your trip, so just pack it!
Off course your bag also consists of the cardigan, track pants, bathers, t-shirts, sneakers, thongs and your pyjamas. Making sure all items are within the same colour palette helps mixing & matching. I like to take either black, white & grey palette or a Navy, white & grey palette, then throwing on a bright scarf or necklace for a pop of colour. Is there anything else you think we may have missed or that you like to take?
I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, that I am more of a shorts person that a dress type of gal, even though I have purchased two dresses in the past month…(shh don’t tell Scott). Shorts for me work better with my lifestyle and body shape. I have two sports obsessed boys who I am either playing some one on one basketball with or kicking the footy – shorts work better for both.
Lets move out of those pants this summer and shine some sun onto those legs. Though take some points into consideration;
Make sure the shorts your wearing or buying are right for your body shape.
- Consider your height, longer shorts create the impression of shorter legs, while shorter shorts lengthen the leg, giving the impression of height.
- Look for shorts that have clean, straight lines. The large pockets on cargo pockets tend to draw attention to your hips and thighs. Instead, opt for shorts in fun bright colours, or a print. Dark-coloured shorts are also slimming and can look both casual and sophisticated paired with the right shoes.
- Nothing but your legs should be sticking out from the bottom of your shorts. This goes for the pockets of jean shorts, underwear, and anything else your shorts cover. Once you’ve hit the big 3-0, cut back on embellishments and short short hemlines. Look to structured lines to polish your look. In your 40s+ Reach for longer lengths and tailored detailing for a chic sophisticated look.
The idea of mixing or even wearing prints can seem a bit out there…..or possibly not a good idea. But it can be done, as you should of done during our #dailystyledares last week. So here’s a little inspiration to get you on your way.
To do it right you need to remember a couple of things;
- the easiest being to mix prints within a similar colour scheme – this way the print ties and blends together, while still making a bold statement.
- If your pieces don’t share a color within their prints, a similar background colour, like brown, black, white, or grey, becomes important.
- An easy way to start mixing prints is to wear Stripes and Polka Dots together – or the same print. Wearing both in a black and white colour scheme, will keep it chic and stylish.
- Leopard print goes with everything – so does stripes, even together!
- Keep your prints to only 2, its easy on the eye and you can see the outfit as one, anymore than 2 say 3 it becomes a bit much and too loud – and no one will know where to look
- Use a small and large print – not both of the same, again more to do with the effects of the eye and confusing them
Now head to your wardrobe pull out a print and start matching it – give yourself your own fashion parade and have fun!

There are so many items that can go onto such a list. But let’s keep it simple and to the point. I don’t have a huge shopping budget, money usually comes out of the food and bills account (shh don’t tell) so I have to make my purchases count. Before I make the decision to purchase an item I have to make sure it’s needed and can make other wardrobe pieces go further.
My top 5 wardrobe must haves include jeans, striped tee, a blazer, pointy toe flats and a chambray shirt. These may not be on your list but they should be. All 5 items are versatile and will work with everything else in your wardrobe and the best bit is they work with each other.
Jeans are a staple you can wear them for most occasions dress them up, down on the weekend sometimes even to work.
A striped tee is one of the easiest pieces to wear. It is a go to for us and we class it as a neutral and staple. I have not just one but many striped tops in my wardrobe short sleeve and long sleeve for all weather conditions and one for all occasions. Dress it up with a statement necklace and your black pumps and off you go.
The blazer is a perfect to add another layer of depth and warmth to your outfit. It’s also perfect to smarten up an outfit, throwing on a blazer takes you from easy casual to smart casual instantly. It doesn’t matter what color you go for though we have black and and I also have an olive/khaki one. Also spring is the perfect time to grab a colored or floral blazer to stand out.
Pointy toe flats or heels….what can I say they make your legs look longer and leaner and just look hot. Between us we have over 15 pairs of pointy toes, between us. We love them more than any other type of shoe. They are perfect with jeans on a night out or even for work during the day. We think they just make an outfit look polished. I’ll never own enough.
Our final must have peice is the chambray shirt. Not many like the double denim but with a pop of color or a statement peice to draw the eye it works very well and looks super cool.
Once you have some staples you can use them as a foundation to start building the rest of your wardrobe. Add tops, skirts, pants and accessories. What else would add to a wardrobe must have list?
